Downtown El Paso could be transformed into a gathering place for artists, studios and creative projects.
The national group, Art Space Projects was in town Thursday, looking at 7 different buildings downtown.
Those vacant buildings could be transformed by federal dollars into live and work spaces for artists. The group says they would also like to create commercial space for non-profits and creative businesses.
Already, they have completed similar projects in Houston and Galveston.
Friday, the group will meet with city staff and the city manager about taking the next step.
