TORNILLO- A witness to the train accident in Tornillo on Wednesday night describes a horrific scene. A 12-year-old boy named Armando Pineda says what he saw, he'll never forget.
"It was so scary. Me and my sister were very scared. We were just looking at all of the blood on the ground and it was bad,” said Pineda.
The driver of the car remains in stable condition on Thursday night.
Witnesses say that the man walked out of his car after he was struck by the train, but then collapsed to the ground.
The El Paso Sheriff's Office says that it does not suspect the victim was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The accident remains under investigation.
Armando Pineda says that he doesn't want to see anything like what he witnessed Wednesday night ever again.
"We went outside, and there was a man on the ground. He was bleeding from the back of his head and the car was all crashed up, and from the back it was all destroyed,” said Pineda.
Others who live around the railroad track say that the crossing isn't well lit at night, so it's important drivers use every precaution.
