EL PASO - Police have identified the 11-year-old girl killed in Tuesday afternoon's pedestrian accident to be Michelle Solis, a student at Bill Sybert Elementary. Solis, along with Sandy Hernandez, 11, was hit by a Chevrolet Silverado on her way home from school around 4:30 p.m.
Both girls were transported to University Medical Center where Solis died from her injuries. Hernandez remains at the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A third child was also walking with the two girls during the accident but was not physically harmed.
The accident happened at Lee Boulevard near Edgemere outside of Bill Sybert Elementary School in Far East El Paso. The Silverado was headed south on Lee had a green light when it struck the two girls. No charges are pending against the driver.
Socorro ISD said grief counselors will be on hand at the school.
