LAS CRUCES- Tis' the season to be... outraged? Dozens of people expressed their anger on the Facebook page of Mesilla Valley Mall after the general manager fired the well-known Mrs. Claus.
Why was Mrs. Claus fired? General Manager Candy Allen refused to tell NewsChannel 9 why Mrs. Claus was fired, but public records show that Mrs. Claus, whose real name is Gail Larkin, had her car stolen from the Mesilla Valley Mall parking lot the day before she was let go. She had also publicly vented her frustration to the Las Cruces Sun-News [2]newspaper.
After much pushback from the Las Cruces community, Allen admits, "Mesilla Valley Mall made a mistake."
An invitation was extended to Mrs. Claus to attend Breakfast with Santa tomorrow morning. In true holly, jolly fashion, Mrs. Claus accepted.
