EL PASO- Fort Bliss has been selected as a finalist for a new security forces regional training center by the U.S. Air Force.
The other finalists include Camp Guernsey, Wyoming; Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey; and Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.
"It is particularly impressive that Fort Bliss – an Army post - beat out dozens of Air Force installations to be selected as one of four bases under consideration for this new training center. The work that we did to prepare the post and the community for the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and our efforts since the announcement that the 1st Armored Division would re-locate to Fort Bliss continue to pay dividends. At a time when other military bases are shrinking, Fort Bliss continues to add new missions," said Congressman Silvestre Reyes (D-Texas).
