EL PASO- The newly-built, eco-friendly Chester E. Jordan Elementary School is the first school in the greater El Paso area to be certified for being green.
Superintendent Dr. Xavier De La Torre says the community needs to be honest and educate students about the challenges that lay ahead with global warming.
"We need to be thoughtful and deliberate in terms of saving energy as well as instituting practices building facilities that require less energy," says Superintendent De La Torre.
The Socorro school district's bond program paid for the school to be built.
