UTEP football’s Jeremy Springer was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team announced league officials on Friday. This marks the second honor for Springer who was a selection in 2009.
Springer completed his senior campaign as a linebacker for UTEP. The Los Fresnos, Texas native completed his undergraduate degree in May 2011 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in education, concentrating as an instructional specialist.
Springer led the defense in tackles (70) and was credited with five tackles for losses, three pass breakups and two quarterback hurries. He recorded his first career interception against Tulane.
Springer was recently named to the Capital One Academic All-District team, is a 2008 C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medalist and is a four-time member of the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
The all-academic team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a starter or key reserve on their team.
