EL PASO - A West El Paso coffee shop is fighting autism one cup of coffee at a time.
Kinley's Coffee House is using new hot cup sleeves to raise awareness and funding for autism. The owner of the coffee shop, Kinley Pon, says he decided to join the fight against the brain disorder after learning several of his customers have children with autism. Pon says one case in particular moved him to action.
"I can see the stress level of the parents, and the innocence of the child. It was pretty much a tear jerker if anything," he said.
Not only do the sleeves raise awareness for autism, the company that makes them donates $5.00 to autism research for ever pack Pon buys for his coffee shop.
Coffee drinkers aren't paying anything extra for their coffee or the new sleeves.
