EL PASO – The challenges facing water service providers know no borders.
Some challenges are obvious: securing sustainable water supplies during one of the driest periods on record. Other challenges are more obscure: deteriorating infrastructure; an aging work-force; and encouraging conservation, even though that means reducing a utility’s revenue at a time when its mission is especially critical.
Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 9, El Paso Water Utilities will host representatives of water utilities large and small from across Far West Texas, Southern New Mexico, and Northern Chihuahua during a three-day workshop entitled “What’s Sustainable in Uncertain Times.”
The free workshop, organized annually by bi-national utility experts from the North American Development Bank, will focus on where we are today and how that relates to the immediate and long-term needs of utility managers and customers along the U.S./Mexico Border.
