Another dispute in the roofing community surfaces. A local construction worker says he and his crew have not been paid.
John Woodruff works in construction. He says he was hired by an independent contractor to do some roofing work for American Roofing.
Woodruff says once the job was offered he called up 13 of his buddies, that are also in construction, and he brought them on board for the job. He says the contractor that hired him was in charge of payroll.
Woodruff says that he and the contractor had a hand shake deal as to when he and his guys would get paid. "Once a week, once every two weeks. He never came through with that," said Woodruff.
He says he tried calling American roofing, but they said he didn't work for them.
NewsChannel 9 spoke with American Roofing owner Matt Woods, and this is what he had to say: I would have liked to do an on-camera interview, but I'm not in El Paso until Wednesday. So far, what I've found out is that no one in my corporate office heard about Johnny Woodruff until they received a claim that Mr. Woodruff filed with the state.
