EL PASO- The cafes are closing inside four El Paso public libraries.
The Ramirez family owned the four cafes including the one at the memorial park library, which they called Le Squirrel Cafe. It was a dream come true, until business slowed down.
"Just financially we couldn't sustain having them anymore and I tried as long as I could to keep them open, but it got to the point that I couldn't do it anymore," said Lydia Ramirez, café owner.
"The library, however, we want to continue making our libraries a place where people can come and enjoy a snack and read a book, maybe a soft drink or a coffee drink while they're reading," says Jack Galindo, City of El Paso.
The city is looking for a new cafe vendor to fill the open library spaces.
