LAS CRUCES-A woman suspected of ripping off part of the scalp of a former friend during an early Saturday morning fight has been arrested.
Gabriela Nunez, 19 is charged with one count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
Las Cruces Police detectives learned that sometime early Saturday morning Nunez and a former friend, also 19-years-old, were at a party. At some point during the party the two women got into an argument that quickly escalated.
Police say that as the victim attempted to leave the party, Nunez struck the woman and pulled her hair hard enough to cause skin to tear from the top of her head. The victim left and went to a local hospital where she received treatment.
Her injuries are not life-threatening.
Police identified Nunez as the suspect in the physical altercation and arrested her Saturday evening. Nunez was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
