TOKYO (AP) - Toyota's global recall now stands at 8.5 million
vehicles. The automaker says it's recalling about 437,000 Prius and
other hybrid vehicles to fix brake problems.
The latest announcement comes as millions of other vehicles have
been recalled because of faulty accelerator systems.
Today's recall affects models that went on sale last year. There
have been about 200 complaints in Japan and the U.S. about a delay
when the brakes were pressed in some conditions.
The recall includes 133,000 Prius cars and 14,500 Lexus HS250h
vehicles in the United States.
It's the latest in a string of embarrassing safety problems at
the world's largest automaker.
