EL PASO - A Union Pacific train hit and killed a woman in Central El Paso overnight.
The accident happened around 1:30am, in the 3000 block of Douglas Avenue. Train operators say they saw the women on the tracks, but couldn't stop in time. Investigators are now trying to figure out why she was on the tracks.
People who live in the area say they'll think twice before crossing the tracks from now on.
"Yea, I'm going to think about it. I'm going to go through Piedras right now where it's safe, safe and sound," Larry Maldonado said.
Investigators haven't released the woman's name, because they want to notify family members first. They say she was in her 20's.
Police are still investigating.
