El Paso - - It's time to sign up for the race for a cure.
Registration began today for the annual Komen El Paso Race for the Cure.
Last year, more than 11,000 people entered the race in the name of breast cancer awareness.
The 5K run and fitness walk also celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who've lost their battle with the disease.
"I had an Aunt who died of breast cancer some years back," said participant Elva Mearns. "
Volunteers with the event say your money stays right here
"What most people don't know is that the majority of money actually stays within the El Paso community to actually help out a lot of people within our community," said volunteer Brooke Owen.
El Pasoans raised more than $3 million in the race for the cure.
This year's race takes place on Sunday the 21st at Cohen Stadium.
