LAS CRUCES- A man was allegedly stabbed in the arm by his girlfriend after he refused to buy her more beer.
Police say Alexa Monet Rodriguez, 22, allegedly became enraged when her boyfriend would not buy her another 40-ounce bottle of beer. An argument escalated, at which point Rodriguez allegedly threw a 3-pound hand weight at the victim with such force that it became lodged in the wall. The victim told investigators Rodriguez then grabbed a TV tray, striking him once in the back and then a chair, which she also allegedly struck the victim with.
The incident ended after Rodriguez reportedly grabbed a 14-inch stainless steel knife and chased him around the house, stabbing him once in the arm. Rodriguez then threw the knife at the victim and fled the scene, but was later apprehended by deputies.
Rodriguez was arrested on one count of aggravated battery against a household member with a deadly weapon, one count of aggravated assault against a household member with a deadly weapon, and two counts of battery against a household member. Magistrate Judge Richard Silva set Rodriguez’s bond at $15,000 cash.
The victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.
