United States Attorney Robert Pitman announced that in El Paso, 22-year-old U.S. Army soldier Vincent Lawrence Gregory faces between five and 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty today to child pornography charges.
Gregory pleaded guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography, one count of distribution of child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography.
Homeland Security Investigations Special Agents executed a federal search warrant at a barracks facility located on Fort Bliss, Texas. Authorities located two laptop computers–one of which contained known images of child porn as well as an assortment of computer related media inside the defendant's room.
From November 2008 until January 2011, Gregory used the P2P file-sharing programs, Limewire and Frostwire, to download images and videos of child pornography to his computers. A computer forensics examination of the materials seized revealed a total of 84 videos and 42 images depicting the sexual exploitation of minors.
Gregory remains in federal custody pending sentencing. Sentencing is scheduled on January 4th, 2012.
