El Paso - - (AP) New Mexico Airlines has discontinued flights between El Paso and Carlsbad, NM saying there aren't enough passengers to keep the route.
Pacific Air Holdings chief executive officer Greg Kahlstorf says New Mexico Airlines - a subsidiary of Pacific Air - had predicted passenger numbers would go down dramatically after American Airlines subsidiary American Eagle began flights between Roswell and Los Angeles.
He says passenger numbers dropped 39 percent in the first month after American Eagle's flights began last summer, and have continued to go down.
Kahlstorf says that although the El Paso flight is out, New Mexico Airlines is adding a third flight to Albuquerque from Carlsbad with a stop in Alamogordo.
