EL PASO - County Judge Veronica Escobar wrote a column for the New York Times, to ensure people that our border is safe despite what Governor Rick Perry is saying.
On the campaign trail, Governor Perry has said that El Paso is not safe. He's even told people, before, that bombs have exploded on our streets.
"On the national stage, border counties like ours are getting beaten up and mischaracterized, and there's this myth being created about us. So, it's great to be able to debunk the myth," Judge Escobar said.
As you know, it's not easy to get published in the New York Times, so Judge Escobar was ecstatic.
She says she hopes people will now look at our border for what it truly is, an asset to the Texas and National economy.
Judge Escobar says she has not heard from Governor Perry since the article came out on Thursday.
