EL PASO- Police have arrested two men in separate incidents for falsely claiming their vehicles were stolen.
Police say 40-year-old Venancio Meza said his 2011 Ford F150 had been stolen while it was parked in the 900 block of East Father Rahm. Investigators learned the vehicle had been stolen in Mexico and the report was filed with the El Paso Police Department for insurance purposes. Meza was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a single charge of False Report to Peace Officer.
In a separate incident, police say 23-year-old Tory Thrasher contacted a person who was selling a motorcycle on Craigslist. Thrasher took the motorcycle on a test drive to the Tinseltown Theaters located at 11855 Gateway West where he called the victim and reported the motorcycle had been stolen.
Thrasher then told police about the theft. Police officers later found Thrasher and the motorcycle behind a local high school. Thrasher was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a charge of Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle.
