New Mexico State can claim bragging rights for the State for a third straight year. Something they haven't been able to do since the 60's. Their 42-28 win over rival New Mexico Saturday was the Aggies biggest margin of victory since 1968. More importantly for Head Coach DeWayne Walker, is that it was a complete game with NMSU outplaying the Lobos in all three phases. Walker was especially impressed with his defense.
"I think they have a pretty good offense, so I was happy with our defense play as well as they did. You hate to see them get two cheap touchdowns in the second half, but hey, we still have more points then they do," said Walker.
Now New Mexico State will get a bye week and the Aggies will make the most of the time.
"I am sure we'll have more guys getting healthy, and with a week off, it will be good to get themselves going and get ready for Idaho," said Walker.
The Vandals will come to Las Cruces on Oct. 15th as NMSU will look to improve to .500 on the season.
