LAS CRUCES - Renewable energy is one of the fastest growing segments of the economy and represents 5% of New Mexico's economy. Right now, New Mexico is considered the top location in the west for renewable energy with considerable resources that include not just sunny skies for solar power, but also biofuels made from algae and byproducts from New Mexico's large dairy industry.
New Mexico's Green Chamber of Commerce wants to ensure the continued growth of renewable energy in the state by attracting and retaining the top "green" energy companies. The group believes government incentives at both the state and federal levels will help to sustain the growth of renewable energy and make these energy sources competitive with more traditional forms of energy.
Companies set up displays of their products and brochures with information for both potential customers and potential employees.
