Mike Locksley will not be around for Saturday's game between New Mexico State and New Mexico. The Lobos fired their head coach on Sunday night. Locksely was 2 and 26 as head coach. Defensive Coordinator George Barlow will serve as interim coach for the remainder of the season. The Saturday, Oct. 1 football game between the Aggies and Lobos is the 102nd meeting between the I-25 rivals. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start at University Stadium in Albuquerque, N.M. The game will also be televised on The Mountain. Fans can listen to all the action with the 'Voice of the Aggies' Jack Nixon and color analyst Jason Scott beginning at 5 p.m. on KRGT 104 FM. Also catch the action in Spanish with Martin Cortez and Bob Sherman on Vista 98.7 FM.
The Aggie cross country teams travel to Stillwater, Okla., for the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree, Saturday, Oct. 1. This is the first competition for NM State since coming off a first-place finish at the Kachina Classic.
The New Mexico State men's golf team competes in the Golfweek Conference Challenge, Sunday, Sept. 25 to Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the 7,360-yard, par 72 Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa. The Aggies will field senior Gaston De La Torre, junior Justin Shin, senior Zachary Fullerton, freshman Cosme Beamonte and junior Derek Baade.
The New Mexico State softball team resumes its fall schedule at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2 against Western New Mexico at NM State Softball Complex.
The Aggie soccer team opens its third season in the WAC with the conference opener at Louisiana Tech, Sunday, Oct. 2 at noon in Ruston, La.
The New Mexico State women's tennis team is back in action at the San Diego State Invitational beginning Friday, Sept. 30, through Sunday, Oct. 2.
The New Mexico State volleyball team plays two WAC matches in the Pan American Center this week. The Aggies host Idaho, Thursday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. That match is scheduled to air on TV as a part of the AggieVision productions. NM State then faces Utah State, Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. and is set to air over the radio waves in Las Cruces on KSNM AM 570 with Kyle Doperalski.
