The UTEP women's golf team picked up an 11th-place finish in its season-opening tournament, the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic on Tuesday in Fort Collins, Colo.
The Miners shot 914 as a team with rounds of 302, 303 and 309. UC Davis won the 19-team event, firing 873.
Senior Shang-Fan Huang notched the sixth top-10 individual finish of her career, tying for ninth place with a three-over-par 219 (72-73-74). Freshman Camino Sardinero had a solid debut, carding a 226 (78-74-74) to tie for 33rd place. Teresa Nogues tied for 49th place (73-79-77-229), Nathalie Castillo tied for 88th place (84-77-84-245) and Emma Edin finished 94th (79-83-87-249) to round out UTEP's scoring.
The Miners will return to action at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational Sept. 25-26 in Albuquerque.
