Former Socorro and Texas Longhorn infielder Omar Quintanilla, outrighted to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, elected to take free agency, as was his right, rather than report to the minors. Quintanilla, who signed with the Rangers last winter while still needing to serve a 50-game suspension, was 1-for-22. He spent the last month with the Rangers, after starting the season in Round Rock.
Quintanilla spent the early part of his career with the Colorado Rockies organization.
