AUSTIN – Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has recovered $24.4 million for the State’s general revenue fund today.
In 2008, the Texas Attorney General’s Office charged Par Pharmaceutical Inc. of New Jersey and three other drug manufacturers with defrauding the Medicaid program by improperly reporting drug prices. Because the companies charged too much for medicine, they had to reimburse the state for some of the charges.
Attorney General Abbott was scheduled to take the companies to court earlier this year, however, the companies decided today to reimburse the money without a lengthy and costly trial.
