UPDATE: 1:22a.m. - Sheriff's Deputies have identified the victim in Tuesday night's deadly motorcycle accident in East El Paso.
He is 23-year-old Ivan Tovar. Witnesses told investigators that Tovar was speeding when he lost control of his motorcycle and veered off the road. He was thrown off the bike and flew about 250 feet.
The crash happened just after 5:30 Tuesday night on Gateway West Blvd. between the Eastlake and Horizon exits.
Deputies say Tovar was not wearing a helmet and suffered severe head injuries. He was taken to Del Sol Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
EL PASO - A deadly accident took place on Gateway West, Tuesday night.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office said a speeding motorcyclist veered off the road, and crashed on the shoulder.
This happened between the Eastlake and Horizon exits.
Police said the man was thrown from the bike, and suffered fatal head injuries.
"He was wearing no helmet...speed is a factor and at this time, we don't know if alcohol was involved," said spokeswoman Chris Acosta, with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators are trying to figure out how the accident happened. Police aren't releasing the identity of the victim.
