COLUMBUS, NM- CBP agents made a 157 pound marijuana bust on Saturday.
A man drove to the Columbus port from Mexico, when drug sniffing dog “Supi” and CBP agents searched the vehicle and found drugs hidden in the fuel tank. Three metal boxes inside were cut open revealing three large compressed bundles of marijuana.
CBP officers took custody of the suspect, 51-year-old Ernesto G. Valenzuela of Deming, New Mexico. He was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents to face federal charges including importation of a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
