The Parkland Matadors were 4-6 in 2010, a down year by all accounts in Northeast El Paso. Parkland has a tradition that includes the playoffs, and after being absent from the playoffs in 2010, all Matadors expect a ressurection this season.
"We're kind of regrouping with these guys, and they understand what's going on, so they know they have to work a little bit harder, and I think we're going to be alright," said Head Coach Jerry Walker. Senkor WR/DB Tommy McCoy added, "I feel great, I expected some roughness around the edges, but I think we're going to be good, 7-on-7 helped us out a lot." Senior T Chris Torres said, "Honestly, it's looking good, I am not going to lie. We're young, but we're going to do good this year, I honestly believe we're going to do good."
Parkland opens up the season at EPHS against Cathedral High School on Friday, August 26.
