Nearly 20 fire units were called out to a major house fire. Luckily, the home was vacant. Investigators say a fire gutted a home near the intersection of Tays St. and 9th St., just before 5 p.m. Sunday. About 25 firefighters showed up and put the fire out.
"We had initial reports that people were inside. We sent crews inside. That was negative, no one was inside. There's pretty extensive damage on the inside," said Robert Binkley of the El Paso Fire Dept.
Neighbors told investigators they'd seen people break into the house in the past. Investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set and ruled the fire arson.
