After much anticipation the NFL football season has finally begun, and to many Dallas Cowboys fans the beginning of what many hope will be a memorable season. The Cowboys opened up their pre-season in Arlington as they took on the Denver Broncos.
The Cowboys looked to bounce from a disappointing season, with a healthy Tony Romo and a new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan leading the defense. While in Denver a quarterback controversy is brewing in Denver. As incumbent starter Kyle Orton and fan favorite Tim Tebow compete for the starting job.
Tony Romo was in for just series, leading the Cowboys to a field goal, going 3-5 for 35 yards. The story of the game was the play of third string quarterback Stephen McGee. McGee led the Cowboys to a come-from-behind 24-23 victory, and a two-point conversion in the closing seconds. McGee went 14 of 24 passing for 208 yards with three touchdown passes for the Cowboys. Two of those going to rookie wideout Dwayne Harris, who caught five passes for 127 yards.
The Cowboys win the pre-season thriller 24-23, and go back to work as training camp continues. The next pre-season game for the Dallas Cowboys is a August 21st game with San Diego.
