LAS CRUCES- The Las Cruces Police Department will conduct at least three sobriety checkpoints within limits between July 29 and Aug. 28.
Sobriety checkpoints are intended to reduce and eliminate the number of motorists who drive while intoxicated. Additional enforcement activities may include underage and party patrols.
The Las Cruces Police Department encourages those who plan on consuming alcoholic beverages to arrange ahead of time and use a designated driver – someone who will not be drinking alcoholic beverages – for their transportation needs.
Residents of Dona Ana County can take advantage of Project HOME (Helping Others Make it home Every time), an initiative of the local DWI Program.
For a minimal fee Project HOME offers a safe ride home to anyone who may have consumed too much alcohol.
Project HOME is available Fridays, Saturdays and holidays between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 3 a.m. For information call (575) 524-TAXI (8294).
