EL PASO- Police say alcohol appears to be contributing factor in Sunday morning’s crash that killed a motorcyclist in the parking lot of a bar.
Jesus Casrto-Roman, 31, was not wearing a helmet when he crashed his 2011 Harley Davidson in the parking lot of Hurricane Alley around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
Investigators learned that Castro-Roman had been in the bar Saturday evening and was asked to leave the establishment shortly after midnight. Witnesses told investigators that Castro refused offers for a taxi and indicated he would walk home. Instead, Castro-Roman got on his motorcycle and was seen driving at an excessive speed in the parking lot prior to the crash.
Castro-Roman was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces where he was pronounced dead about 45 minutes after arrival.
The motorcycle Castro-Roman was driving had a temporary license plate indicating that it was a new purchase. Castro-Roman had a valid Texas driver’s license but did not have a motorcycle endorsement that’s required to operate a motorbike of that size.
