EL PASO - A local soldier finally came home to El Paso and was surprised with a newly landscaped backyard.
Timothy Holt came home from overseas late this weekend, to find his backyard transformed. Volunteers helped his wife, Atoyia, re-landscape after a local landscaper took her money but didn't do the job.
They say this homecoming was quite a surprise.
"I told him to close his eyes, and I grabbed him by the hand, and we walked back. I told him to open his eyes, and he just kind of stood in amazement," Mrs. Holt said.
"To see this was amazing. To see the joy in my wife's eyes was even more amazing. Incredible," Mr. Holt said. "A million thanks to everybody that helped. It's definitely greatly appreciated, and it will never be forgotten."
Not only are the Holt's able to spend all their time together during his short leave in a new backyard, the landscaper paid back all the money to the family.
