EL PASO – A finger print scan at an El Paso border crossing led to the arrest of a fugitive wanted for a double murder in Socorro.
El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies said Joe Ivan Alarcon was caught trying to cross into the U.S. by foot at the Ysleta Port of Entry Sunday morning.
He was identified as a fugitive by a Customs and Border Protection Officer who conducted a finger print scan.
Alarcon is charged with the murders of Jose and Jesus Vargas at the A&M bar in Socorro two years ago.
Alarcon was turned over to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office featured Alarcon on its Manhunt Monday program twice.
