LAS CRUCES, N.M. (July 11)-The New Mexico State soccer team has a new home in 2011. The Aggies will play their home matches in a new stadium that is currently under construction.
The new facility, the Soccer Athletic Complex, is located between the Coca-Cola Weight Center and the NM State Softball Complex. The stadium is slated to be completed in August, and the Aggies host Prairie View A&M, Aug. 28, in the home opener.
"I think it's exciting for the program to have its own facility to play in and call our own," head coach Blair Quinn said. "Not having to play in the confines of Aggie Memorial, which is nice, but it is smaller than you would like to have for a soccer field. It will be nice to have our own facility to call home."
With the new facility, kickoff for Friday matches is set for 4 p.m. with Sunday games to start at 1 p.m. The new field has a natural grass surface, and the facility will share amenities with the softball complex such as the entrance, ticket booth, concessions and restrooms.
