Hooking Up Your Converter Box
Digital conversion is just a little more than a month away.
So, the Federal Communications Commission is reaching out to seniors in El Paso to make sure they're prepared for the switch.
A crowd of seniors gathered at the East side community center to ask an important question...
"How do I hook up my digital converter box?"
The FCC demonstrated a group how to connect a digital converter box in two easy steps:
Step 1: Connect the coaxial cable from the antenna jack on the TV to the TV output on the box.
Step 2: Connect the antenna-plug to the antenna-input on the box.
"It's very easy, the only thing I missed on the first round was putting in the code for the TV," senior, Tom Soleau said.
Then the user has to program their TV:
First, turn on the television and use the remote that came with the converter box to access the menu.
Second, choose the "channel scan" option...
Your television should then give you a list of which channels are available.
But if your signal isn't coming in loud and clear, you might want to re-position your antenna toward the TV towers on the franklin mountains.
