With high school football practice just five weeks away, some teams are getting some extra practice in because of 7-on-7 football. Last month, the Riverside Rangers beat Montwood, Franklin, and Coronado to win the Hanks 7-on-7 passing tournament, and qualify for the state 7-on-7 tournament in College Station, Texas on the campus of Texas A&M. Senior wide receiver Andrew Hernandez talked about the nerves the team will feel before its first game.
"We might be a little nervous when we go, because it's our first year, and in our first game, we should get our fears and nerves out and then after that, we should get rolling and do good."
Riverside won 12 straight games, by winning the Hanks and then the UTEP tournament at the Sun Bowl. The tournament will be held from July 14th through the 16th and teams from around the state will compete.
