LAS CRUCES- A Las Cruces man was arrested after he armed himself with a knife and physically assaulted his girlfriend on Thursday evening.
Enrique Vargas-Dominguez, 31, is charged with one count each of aggravated assault upon a household member and aggravated residential burglary.
Police say Vargas had gone to a house to confront his 24-year-old girlfriend. Police learned that Vargas, armed with a knife, entered the residence without permission, threatened his girlfriend with the knife and punched her several times.
Vargas hid the knife prior to the arrival of police, but police were able to locate it. The woman’s injuries were not life-threatening.
Vargas is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $25,000.
