EL PASO-An El Paso boy lands on the cover of a national wrestling magazine, right next to one of his favorite wrestlers. How did he do it? After winning a logo contest in which he beat out nearly 200,000 others.
WWE superstar Randy Orton graces the cover of the July issue of WWE Kids magazine. And on Randy's right shoulder is a picture of 9-year-old El Pasoan Robert Partridge and the logo Partridge created.
"The first thing I always do whenever I look at a magazine is look for the contests," said Robert. "So I looked for the contest and then I started drawing right away."
Partridge says he's a huge WWE fan.
"Wrestling's my favorite show, both shows, so I watch every episode and watch as much as I can," said Robert.
And he's thrilled that along with winning the logo contest, there's also an article about him in the magazine.
Not only that, but his logo is also featured on almost every single page of the magazine on the upper left-hand side.
"It's amazing, really sensational to see some artwork that he did become an object on a national platform," said Robert's dad, Philip Partridge.
Philip also said that he is proud that his son has yet another prize to add to his collection.
"He has quite a few trophies, of course, for sports," Philip said. "He's got a lot of trophies and he's got different awards for school."
Robert's latest drawings include his prediction for the next champs.
"Rey Mysterio will be the next Intercontinental Champion. Jeff Hardy will be the next WWE Champion. John Morrison will be the next World Heavyweight Champion and Randy Orton will be the next U.S. Champion," predicted the 9-year-old.
Partridge feels like a champ himself, and is proud that he's also giving the Sun City its time to shine.
"It feels awesome and it feels good for my hometown, El Paso, TX," said Robert.
