LAS CRUCES- Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the man who committed a robbery in the drive-through lane of a local bank one year ago today.
Shortly before 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010, Las Cruces Police were called to the Bank of the Rio Grande at 421 N. Water St. after a man was reported to have stolen money from a customer using the drive-thru banking line.
The suspect was said to be a Hispanic man, possibly in his early 20’s, 5-feet-10-inches to 6-feet tall, with facial stubble and possibly a goatee. He was wearing tan or khaki pants, a dark-colored T-shirt and a black baseball cap.
Witnesses said the suspect timed the robbery so that he approached the drive-through window at the exact time the teller was giving money to the customer. The suspect was last seen running from the bank and heading west toward a neighborhood.
Las Cruces Police detectives believe that more than one individual may have been involved in the robbery. The suspect or suspects may have made large cash purchases in the days and weeks following the robbery.
If you have any information on the robbery, or the identity of the suspect who committed the crime, you are asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to LCTIPS (528477).
The Crime Stoppers number and text messaging services are operational 24 hours a day and you do not have to give your name to collect a reward.
