LAS CRUCES- The City of Las Cruces is imposing maximum restrictions on the use of fireworks, as allowed by state law.
The city has decided that all aerial and ground devices are currently banned within the City of Las Cruces.
Because the region is currently under extreme or severe drought conditions, the City imposed further restrictions on the use of fireworks. Residents are not allowed to use fireworks in any wild land area and can only use permissible fireworks on paved or barren areas with a readily accessible source of water nearby.
The Las Cruces Fire Department would like to remind residents that the use, sale or possession of any aerial or ground audible device; to include aerial spinners, helicopters, mines, shells, missile type rockets, stick type rockets, roman candles, chasers and firecrackers is illegal within the City of Las Cruces.
Permissible fireworks allowed to be purchased and discharged are ground and hand-held sparkling, and smoking devices:
-Toy smoke devices
Fireworks purchased outside of Las Cruces may be prohibited within the city, and if possessed or discharged within the city limits may result in citations or fines.
