Former New Mexico State forward Troy Gillenwater has withdrawn his name from this years NBA Draft despite being ineligible to return to school.
The Aggies leading scorer and rebounder this past season, Gillenwater announced in May that he would forego his Senior season in favor of the NBA. Troy then hired agent Scott Nichols, thereby making him ineligible to finish his final year of eligibility.
Tuesday, Nichols announced that Troy was withdrawing his name in this years draft and will either play with a European team or join the NBA's Developmental league.
Gillenwater could still re-enter the NBA draft in 2012 even after withdrawing his name this year and said that he plans to do just that. Gillenwater, a 6-foot-8 junior from Boston, led the Aggies with 18.9 ppg and 6.3 rpg last season, but was considered a long shot to get drafted.
