It was down to two. After receiving scholarship offers from Division 1 Universities like Texas A&M, Rice, UTEP, New Mexico State, New Mexico, and Boise State, Americas Senior-to-be Jack Fields chose Boise State over UTEP. Fields, an all-district and all-city running back in 2010, chose Boise State because of their style of offense. He liked the downhill approach by the Broncos over the spread offenses of the other schools.
Jack Fields said after he signed, "I decided to go to Boise State because of their tradition, and the consistency that they have had. Going to BCS bowl games, and I wanted to be a part of that. I love the family atmosphere, and the city of Boise was great, they welcome you with open arms, so that is where I want to go."
Americas High School Patrick Melton added, "I knew he wanted to go somewhere that ran a similar offense to us, most of the schools recruiting him were spread programs, spread offenses, where he would be running zone read, counter read type stuff, and he doesn't feel like he is that kind of running back."
