Fort Bliss - - Sgt. Jason Stegall died Dec. 14 at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, where he had been transferred for medical treatment. Stegall was assigned to B Company, U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Battalion, Fort Bliss, Texas.
Stegall, 31, of Birmingham, Ala., was an Infantryman who entered
the Army in March 2005 in Montgomery, Alabama. He was previously stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska, and Fort Benning, Georgia. He served one tour supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Stegall's military education includes Combatives Level 1 and Airborne school. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star with "V" Device, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal - Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, two Overseas Service Ribbons, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Parachutist Badge.
Stegall is survived by his wife and three children.
A memorial ceremony in honor of this fallen Soldier will be
coordinated and announced at a later date.
