The schedule for the upcoming 2011 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout, Nov. 23-26, has been revised, and the New Mexico State men’s basketball team opens against Central Michigan.
The new opening-round games are now Murray State versus host Alaska Anchorage and Dartmouth versus San Francisco, Nov. 23, followed by Central Michigan versus New Mexico State and UC Irvine versus Southern Mississippi, Nov. 24.
The Aggies claimed the Shootout title in 1992 with wins over Tennessee-Chattanooga, 75-65, Oregon, 86-75, and Illinois, 95-94. NM State’s first round matchup with Central Michigan will be the third in school history with the series tied, 1-1.
The Crimson and White leads the series with either second-round opponent, UC Irvine, 27-8, or Southern Miss, 1-0. The Aggies have a 3-2 series lead over San Francisco but trail Murray State, 1-7. A meeting with Dartmouth or Alaska Anchorage would be the first in program history.
