30 to 40 families are asking for help after being told by the Housing Authority that they are being evicted.
A group of parents and children protested outside the Housing Authority in Northeast El Paso, Friday night.
They say they have been told they had 15 days to vacate their homes because they have made late payments on their rent.
The families tell us they have always been given a 10 day grace period to make their rent payment but now they're being told that because they didn't pay by the first, they are out of luck.
A Housing Authority spokesman says, while they have always given tenants until the 10th to pay their rent, that is still considered paying late.
3 late payments and you can be evicted.
The Housing Authority spokesman also says they have a 2 year waiting list of 13,000 people looking for housing.
