The First Tee of Greater El Paso hosted their annual Adult & Junior Golf Classic at Ascarate Golf Course on Saturday.
"This family-friendly tournament is a unique opportunity for a parent to play with their child," said Kristi Albers, Executive Director of the First Tee of Greater El Paso. "It's a great showcase for our participants and a chance for the community to see all the improvements at Ascarate."
The tournament is designed for 36 2-person teams of an adult and junior, with junior players under age ten starting at 4:30 pm to play 9 holes and players over ten start at 2:00 pm to play 18 holes. As an Eagle Sponsor, One Source Federal Credit Union will help underwrite this event.
The First Tee program goes far beyond teaching fundamental golf skills. The First Tee Life Skills Experience teaches young people core values such as honesty and respect as well as important life skills such as managing emotions, goal setting, interpersonal communication and effective conflict resolution. The program is supported nationally by the Masters Tournament, PGA and LPGA as well as locally by Prices Creamery's "Give 'Em Five" program, Western Refining and El Paso County, among many others.
The next beginner sessions start in June and will include special Parent & Child classes for children as young as 3 years old. Families of National Guard and National Reserve are eligible for FREE classes. For more information, or to sign up, visit our website.
