EL PASO - 103 days and counting, without rain in the Borderland. By this time next week, we'll have set the record for the longest dry streak ever, in El Paso.
If you're wondering about out water supply, there's no need to fret, according to El Paso Water Utilities. The utility said it's in fine shape, due to conservation measures that were taken in the 1990's, like reclaiming wastewater for parks and golf courses.
"The amounts in the river are lower...that may fluctuate a little bit. But, that's why we have that additional source that we can pump from the ground water, because we brought them up to sustainable levels again. There's no concern on the behalf of residents, whether or not there is going to be an ample supply this year," said EPWU spokeswoman, Christina Montoya.
If drought conditions continue into next year, EPWU said it may need to consider new water restrictions. Until then, there are no plans to make any changes.
