Altough the eyes of the world watched Prince William marry Kate Middleteon, the wedding reception was another story. Seven-hundred people were invited to the private affair at Buckingham Palace. We talked to one of the top wedding planners in El Paso about her take on what the royal reception may have looked like.
"A little traditional, a little contemporary," is what Caroline Whitmore, who runs "Eventures Designer Events" in El Paso, thinks sums up what Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding reception would be.
"We have decorated in the style that I thought a new princess would probably use," said Caroline, who has planned hundreds of weddings during her time as a wedding planner.
This is her take on a royal wedding reception. For the flowers, she went with a contemporary romantic arragement.
"This is a peony, a beautiful flower that's very prevalent this time of year and this is called a flower ball," said Caroline. "We've done it with stock and baby roses. We embelished it with pearls and made it very romantic." The silver stand and mint julep cups paired up with the arrangement are very traditional, which ties the traditional and romantic contemporary styles of the arrangement together.
Accessory flowers that would make a nice choice for the table: "These are beautiful Casa Blanca lilies and hydrangeas. These are very typical wedding flowers with little baby white roses," she said.
And a very royal touch Caroline came up with makes Kate's engagement ring the focal point of the table setting. "This is a napkin ring that's a replica of Lady Di's engagement ring from Prince Charles and his son, William, decided he was going to give this to his new bride," said Caroline.
For the linens, Caroline chose a champange rose-colored hue. "This is a very traditional color but romantic design. Lots and lots of brides love this absolutely romantic pattern," she said.
With an estimated 7,000 journalists on hand for the royal wedding, there's no doubt, the exact details on the reception will soon be revealed.
